Worth the try

After learning about the Meet and Greet with the author I wrote about months ago I promptly got my phone and saved the date on my calendar WITH ALARM so I don’t miss it. A few days before the Book Fair event at SMX I learned about JaDine’s Scrapbook Grand Launch with Meet and Greet on the same date BUT at Fairview Terraces. What are the odds right?

I slowly went reaching for my phone and opened my calendar to verify if my memory about the SMX event was correct. And voila! Indeed my memory is 100% accurate.
Contemplating on what to do…
Scrapbooks are already on-hand and we’re looking forward to that Meet and Greet with JaDine but I have also been looking forward to meeting this author I’ve been idolizing ever since I read about her works on her blog and stories on Wattpad. So I came up with the decision of driving North in the morning and driving South for the Book Signing event.
Although we failed to be part of the 300 to Meet and Greet at the Fairview Terraces because of the early birds, and we still stayed until the end of the event then went off to SMX.
Driving along EDSA I kept sending messages on Twitter to this author that we are on our way (whoops, texting while driving, PEACE OUT!) hoping she’d check and praying they were still there. But for whatever it is, I still tried my luck. Upon reaching SMX, parked in the basement, left the engine running (with people inside of course), and rushed myself up. Went to the entrance booth and they told me the fee was already FREE, so while walking myself inside, my mind was like “Oh no! Does this mean there’s nothing to see anymore?”
Walked here… Wandered there… Kept looking… Until I saw the PSICOM Booth. Hurried and checked out the racks but to my devastation, I did not see the book I came there for. I decided to ask where the Book Signing for that booth was and I was led to the back.
My eyes were still roaming and searching for the book but there was still NONE. I looked at the long table where there were labels of the authors’ names on top of it. I slowly held on to the nameplate with her name and asked if it was her. She said “YES” immediately and little by little she recognized me but told me that the book was SOLD OUT. Well... I wasn't surprised because her stories are just PERFECT to be published and everybody who bought the book I bet totally agrees with me. Auspiciously there was this ONE LAST PIECE which at that moment I secretly crossed my fingers.
And there was my luck. I have Jane Kenneth Acidre aka Abciddy’s Project Ex book with her personal note on it. I did not make a mistake in liking this author since day one, she is as amazing as I thought she is. I cannot exactly describe in words how I felt at that moment. Up until now, I feel so ecstatic and just so thankful that I finally got to be face to face with her.

It was quick but it was worth it.
